LAM has a very active social scene, and yes a lot of it revolves around getting out on our motorbikes. For a full list of what is going on, members can access The Tracker for more information and to sign up to events.
Outside of the Observed Rides we provide opportunities for Associates to get together and go for longer rides. These are a good opportunity to learn how to ride in a group and also to put into practice what you’ve taken from your Observed Ride sessions. The rides vary in length and destination, usually involving at least a cup of tea along the way, if not some tasty nosh in a pub. It’s a great way to meet others who are in the same position as you – trying to get themselves to test standard – so you can learn from and encourage each other.
Full Member Rides
When you pass your advanced test you will then be provided with the opportunity to join other Full Members on rides. These are similar to the Associate rides but restricted to only Full Members. Again they vary in length and destination, and involve some tasty treat stops.
While these weekends have a big focus on helping you improve your ride as an associate, there are plenty of opportunities for full members to get out and have fun, as well for Associates to just ride without feeling “observed”. These weekends are very social and you’re encouraged to mingle over dinners and drinks.
Once a month LAM run social evenings for all it’s members at The Fox Hatch in Purley, Surrey. You can bring your bike if you want but this is more about relaxing and having a few drinks and some food with other members. Depending on Interest we are considering running some social events in central London if it is more convenient for those who work in the city.
LAM members run other events throughout the year. We have rides down into mainland Europe and annual rides to other places around the UK. We also invite guess speakers in for some events to talk about whatever their specialty is in the world of biking.
